On the Shoulders of Giants

I thought the course was very well done and
detailed. First off, I have never taken a course that is
comparable to "On the Shoulders of Giants." I am used
to the math classes that you can add, subract, multiply and find
the answers with numbers. However, this class, I would say, is
more logical, abstract, and visual than any other classes I have
taken. I enjoyed the change. It was conceptual and demanding at
the same time. I thought, since I am strong in math, the class
would be a breeze. It wasn't. Every night, we had homework. After
that, I would have to read the sections that we had gone over
that day. Before each class, I skimmed the new sections I thought
we would be covering. That way, I would be a little prepared.
College math classes aren't like high school math classes. I
found that out quickly! I enjoyed it though and would strongly
recommend this class to any aspiring mathematicians or those who
enjoy math. I recently took a class this summer, after JE, about
Graph Theory. Little did I know how lucrative the area actually
is. Now, after that class, and after this class at Davidson, I
think I might consider it for a field of study.
